Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said on Tuesday that he would make no further comment on the case involving Sivarak Chutipong, the Thai engineer convicted of spying in Cambodia who returned to Thailand on Monday after being granted a royal pardon by King Norodom Sihamoni.

This matter should be put to end, he said, adding that the public understand what happened.

He earlier said the incident was a conspiracy by Puea Thai and ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra to discredit the government and boost the popularity of the convicted former prime minister, who arrived in Cambodia on Sunday to arrange for Mr Sivarak's release.

When asked about the government's efforst to extradite Thaksin now that he is back in Cambodia, Mr Suthep said that was the responsibility of the Foreign Ministry.
